Preparing for the Future

Saint Ambrose School administrators and faculty recognize the importance of equipping each student with the necessary educational tools to meet his/her future. Responding to this challenge a Development Council was formed in 1997 to assure Saint Ambrose School’s viability into the twenty-first century.  As of 2007, the Development Council has been restructured and its duties and objectives been absorbed into the School Board, PTO, and Marketing Committees.

Saint Ambrose Parish is actively participating in the following project whose purpose is to plan for the future of our parish and school:

  • Continued updating of our curriculum guide
  • Development of a Parish/School Strategic Plan
  • Updating of our parish, alumni, parent, grandparent, and student database
  • development of a public relations and marketing plan
  • assessing the current status of the plant and capital improvement plan

Saint Ambrose recognizes the importance of objective self-evaluation in order to constantly improve programs to meet future needs. Therefore, in 1999-2000 Saint Ambrose underwent an aggressive self-study. This was a plan for a systematic and on-going process for growth and improvement in our school. The process for self-study was to assist the parish in assessing the strengths and areas of needed growth in the parish elementary school as well as planning for future direction. The process involved four phases: self-study, team visit, plans for improvement and implementation.  Each school in the St. Louis Archdiocese is required to complete a School Improvement Process every 7 years.  At this writing, Jan 2009, St. Ambrose is currently undergoing the process again and will publish the findings in the future.

The traditions and dedication of the founders of our school and community, the Italian immigrant, have left us a legacy of pride, loyalty and the belief in the fulfillment of education of our youth. It is because of this, our inheritance, that Saint Ambrose School will continue to lead her students in the footsteps of our ancestors. Therefore, Saint Ambrose, while rooted in the past of our immigrants, will endow her students with wings to meet the future.
