Recycle!
Our school recycled 10 tons of paper in the last two months, thanks to
all of you. We are very close to our goal of 35 tons and winning a prize in the
Paper Recycling contest! Please remember to recycle your newspapers, magazines,
catalogs, and school papers everyday. After we win $1,000, we will contribute
our prize to the playground fund. So please recycle and bring the paper to our school
bins on Hereford, across from the Soccer Lot. We need nine tons by March 31. With
everybody’s help we can reach our goal. Thank you. The Archdiocesan Tuition Grant Applications for 2008 - 2009 are available at the rectory OR go online at www.factstuitionaid.com.
A Couple of Changes to Note
- Mrs.
Kar is expecting a baby, due the first week in April. We wish her a
healthy delivery and recovery. Mrs. Mandy Longland will be substituting
until Mrs. Kar returns in August. Mrs. Gambaro is taking a temporary
leave of absence to shift into "grandma mode" through the end of the
school year. She will be returning in the summer and will continue to
be available from home for questions, particularly on Parent
Participation and Protecting God's Children compliance. Feel free to
contact her via Fast Direct or by phone. We all know she'll look
forward to talking with adults once in a while!
- Two
snow days were built into the schedule, but having taken three this
year, we need to arrange a make-up day. Consequently, April
28--originally scheduled as a day off--will be a regular school day, as
now noted in the Calendar.
Yearbook Order
Forms have gone home for those who wish to
purchase. One is also available on Fast Direct if needed.
Box Tops Contest
The
winning class was Mrs. Elmore’s Third Grade Homeroom.
Congratulations to them. They will be receiving a Pizza Lunch for their
efforts. As a school, we collected 13,228 box tops and 11,035 labels.
Thank you to Mrs. Angie Kaestner and her staff for all of their hard
work in preparing, cutting, and counting the box tops and labels. Thank
you everyone for supporting this effort. We will be collecting both of
these items again in the Fall, so continue to save those box tops and
labels!

Improvement News
One
of the parts of our School Improvement “Validating the
Vision” process is our Catholic Identity. We want to share what
the students are doing currently. Each grade of St. Ambrose attends
Mass twice weekly, including the All School Mass on Fridays at 8:00 am.
During Lent, all students and teachers attend Stations of the Cross
each Friday at 2:30 pm in church. Grades 2-8 had the opportunity
to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for Lent on February 25th
and 26th. The second graders will be making their First Holy Communion
on April 12, 2008, and the seventh and eighth graders will receive the
Sacrament of Confirmation on April 7, 2008. Both the Communicants and
Confirmandi have scheduled days of retreat to assist them in preparing
for their sacraments. Thank you to the teachers and parents who have
also been busy preparing the children for these sacraments.
