From the Faith and Sacraments Committee
The
Casual Day money from this Thursday will be donated to the Pro Papa
Missions-America. The Parish Nurse, Rita, will use the money to buy
medicine and medical supplies for the people in Honduras. Thanks to
your generosity, so many people's lives can be saved!
Box Tops for Education
The counts are in and three homerooms brought in over 1000
boxtops! Incredible! David House had the most Box Tops of any of the
homerooms in school. They will receive a pizza lunch for the whole
homeroom. The money gained from turning in the box tops has enabled the
school to purchase new shades for the windows in the classrooms. They
are heavier than the old ones and more sturdy for classroom
use. Please continue to collect the Box Tops and Campbell’s
labels. We certainly use the money to make improvements around the
school.
Professional Development for our
Teachers
- Mrs.
Kathy McIver (5th grade) and Sr. Margaret Mary Stoverink (4th grade)
attended an INTERFACE seminar at the Lake of the Ozarks. The seminar
concentrated on math and science concepts, lesson plans, symposiums
with professors from various universities, and an enormous array of
internet and team board information/sites to complement and reinforce
lessons within a curriculum.
- Mrs.
Ann Grandstaff and Mrs. Anne Henning attended another installment of
their QUEST seminars. They traveled to to MIZZOU
in Columbia
for this seminar. This installment consisted of all of the QUEST
teachers coming together to support one another and to share with one
another. Everyone got to share their success stories and also got to
ask for advice and instruction on how to improve on things that they
feel may not be going as well as others. They also received information
on how to implement the 5 E’s across the grades and not just
with grades 3 and 4. The 5 E’s are: Engagement, Exploration,
Explanation, Elaboration, and Evaluation.
Student St. Joseph Altar
The Students of St. Ambrose will have a St. Joseph altar
on Thursday, March 18. That morning, Msgr. Bommarito will bless the
altar and the bread at 8:00 am, and then the items on the altar will be
available for purchase. Families are encouraged to bring in
individually wrapped items for the altar. The items can be home-made or
store-bought.
