Quilt Social
Thank you to everyone who made the quilt social such a success.
It was a beautiful day and everyone had a wonderful time. Special
thanks to Mrs. Hilma Moses and her quilt team for the beautiful quilts,
Msgr. Bommarito for the delicious chili, Mrs. Moses for all the rest of
the food, the volunteers and the students who worked so hard all day
from set-up to clean-up. Thank you for everything. The next quilt
social will be in November 2011. Proceeds from this event will go
toward the general parish fund to assist with whatever is needed.
Important Reminders
- If
you know of any families specifically interested in St. Ambrose, or
with children approaching grade school age, please invite them to the
Open House on Sunday, November 15. Though the focus for this event
is on preschools, all are welcome. Our current parents are our
strongest advocates and can provide the best support for
our marketing efforts!
- Flu
shots will be given Wednesday, November 18, starting at 8:30 with
Kindergarten and working up to 8th grade. If you are expecting your child(ren) to receive them, we must have the forms properly signed and
returned to the Office. The City Health Department is responsible for
the paperwork for our students. Please feel free to accompany your
child while getting the shot if needed. Any questions, please call the
school office, 772-1437.
- Mrs. Lisa
Horner will give a presentation/review of the ITBS results on December
2, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. All are invited. Following the
presentation will be the PTO board meeting.
-
Tardies: If you know
that your child is tardy, you are reminded that a parent must accompany the
child into the office to sign them in.
-
Leaving School early:
If it is necessary for your child to leave school early because of an
appointment, or any other reason, you are reminded that a note must be given
to the teacher notifying them of the reason and time. The teacher will
then notify the office so that we can have your child ready for you to pick
them up.
-
If your child has been absent,
please remember to send a note explaining the absence to the homeroom
teacher who will then send it to the office. If you are sending an
e-mail the morning of the absence, please send the e-mail not only to the
teachers, but to the office as well. It will save the office from
calling you at work or home wondering where your child is.
Special
Intentions
Contact Debbie Hilderbrand if you wish to include any prayer intention
in the newsletter. We are a prayerful community and wish to provide this avenue of support for any special needs.

Veterans Day Tribute
On Friday, November 13, we will honor the veterans at the 8:00
all-school Mass. All veterans are welcome. Please pass this on to any
veterans and extend our invitation to them. You do not need to RSVP,
but there will be reserved seats in the front of the Church on the
right side.
Canned Food Drive
The Student Council of St. Ambrose is collecting non-perishable food items and household items (toothpaste, Kleenex, toilet paper, shampoo, soap, laundry detergent, etc.) through November 20. Please be generous for those who are less fortunate. All food will be shared with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Ambrose and at neighboring parishes. If you would like to participate, please bring your items to the rectory. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
PTO Special Lunch
The PTO Special Lunch for the month of November is being served on Monday, November 16. Mama Toscano’s will serve their toasted ravioli and garlic bread. We’d like to thank Mama Toscano’s and the other businesses who have participated in these lunches. The students and teachers really look forward to these. If you own a business and would like to participate, please send a note to the main office at school. A PTO representative will get back to you.
Mark Your Calendar
The second quarter PTO Family Dinner at Kemoll's is scheduled for November 30. Please be aware that on this night, and for any other PTO Family Dinners, Extended Care will close at 4:45, one hour early. Thanks!

PTO
Special Lunch Schedule
To
thank the neighborhood restaurants for their support and to share their
wonderful cuisine with our students, PTO invites them to provide lunch
to our students. Each month features a different restaurant and
selection. The dates for the First Semester lunches are as follows:
November
16 - Toscano's (Toasted ravioli and garlic bread)
December
14 - Favazza's (Grilled Italian chicken strips and white pasta)
The
cost is the same as last year, $4 for grades K-4, $5 for grades 5-8 and
teachers/staff. Watch for
the order form for these lunches at home and return to the office with
your payment. Please note
that Chris' will not be served on these days.
Hot
Lunch Program Procedures
- Lunch
cards are $15.00 for 5 lunches.
- Every
child buying lunch must have a lunch card before getting in line. Money
will not be accepted in the lunch line. Please make checks payable to
Chris'.
- Students
who forget their lunch will be given cereal and milk that will cost
1.00. Parents will be notified through Fast Direct.
- Snacks
such as pizza, nachos, cereal will be available to buy for students in
grades 3-8.
- A
lunch count is essential in the morning, so there is no food waste and
the students who come through last have a proper lunch. We will not
prepare for extra lunches this year.
