Archbishop Carlson's Response to our Students who Wrote Him Letters
Dear Principal, Teachers, and Students of St. Ambrose School:
I wanted to write and to thank all of you for your wonderful letters, telling me about the great City of St. Louis and your wonderful grade school. Obviously, you’re very proud of your school and the great opportunities for learning which are present there.
I also enjoyed reading your letters with all of the suggestions of what I can do, now that I also live in St. Louis. I especially enjoyed the invitation to come to the “Hill” and to partake in some of the great Italian food.
I look forward to the possibility of visiting your grade school some day and also sharing the Sacrament of Confirmation with many of you. I certainly appreciate all that your teachers and parents do to provide the wonderful St. Ambrose School.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop of St. Louis

In Response to the Monetary Collection and Food/Personal Care Drive for November

To the students and staff of St. Ambrose School:
Thank you so very much for your generous donations during your recent food and personal care collection. Many have benefitted from your thoughtfulness and concern for others. I know of one family who received so much from your efforts and I want you to know how appreciative they are - you have made a difference at a time when they need to know the love and support of others. Thank you doesn’t seem enough. I pray that you will continue to see the needs around you and respond with love as you have. You are the good news in education!
Peace,
Jean Turney
St. Vincent DePaul Society

Toy Drive Continues through December 14
Three of our seventh grade students: Marissa S., Kellyn M., and Jenna J., are collecting new toys for the Our Little Haven Organization. New toys only, please. They ask that you do not donate the games: Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and/or weapon-like toys. There will be a box in church and boxes in each homeroom in school. We ask that you please be generous to help those in need during this holiday season.

TWB for Christmas
Christmas is only weeks away and TWB cards make for the perfect gift! Marsy Canino is in the school cafeteria every Friday selling TWB cards, in addition to their availability in the office every day.

We have TWB gift cards for almost every store imagineable, or Marsy can place a special order for you. Ordering a Honey Baked Ham? We have certificates for those also. TWB gift cards make great teacher gifts and stocking stuffers too! (Don't forget those St. Nick stockings this weekend.)

Please continue to use your Schnucks Cards also. Every family was given a card at the beginning of the year. Just attach them to your keychain and don't forget to have the cashier swipe them when you are at the checkout counter.

Special Intentions
Contact Debbie Hilderbrand if you wish to include any prayer intention in the newsletter.
We are a prayerful community and wish to provide this avenue of support for any special needs.

Congratulations Sixth Grade Boys Soccer Team
The boys finished in Second Place to St. Joseph's Imperial. They fought hard when down 1-0 and tied the game in the second with a goal by Christian Patke. The game ended in a tie in regulation. It was then two ten minute halves. The game remained tied after the first overtime half and was still scoreless with less than five minutes remaining where St. Joseph's scored on a header from a cross. The boys finished this season with a 12-1 record. Way to go.

This by far was almost like a "World Cup" atmosphere game by both teams. The fans were overwhelming, for me to watch and especially for the coaching staff who were watching form the players side. There were over 100 fans for St. Ambrose; it was an honor for them to play their hearts out for everyone. It was a tribute to the team with the cheering, horn blowing and the screams of joy with every great play.

Joe Wiss and his staff wanted to thank all the players, their families and their friends for all their support at all of the games.

On behalf of the St. Ambrose Athletic Association we want to thank everyone who attended today’s Championship Game; it made me proud to say that I was from St. Ambrose. Thank you to all the Board members for attending the games this weekend, the boys really appreciated you coming to the games. A special thanks to Sr. Carol for her prayers this weekend and for finding time in her hectic weekend to attend the Championship Game. A special thanks to Mrs. Kar for making it to the Championship Game, the boys were excited to hear that you were there. I almost forgot; thanks to Dave Sanguinette for bring the flag to the games. Thanks to Bobby Kaestner and Dominic Sanguinette for running the flag. A final thanks to all the parents of the players, without you this could not have happened. Thanks for putting up with a tough schedule this past Fall and putting up with all the makeup game changes and the weather. I hope I didn't forget to thank anyone, of I did, I apologize.

One last reflection on today's game. I have never seen a team, and fans that showed so much class, sportsmanship and camaraderie. It was a great feeling to be with the "Best Fans In St. Louis".

Thank you once again for making this a great year in Soccer for St. Ambrose.

Congratulations sixth graders, hopefully you will make it back next year.
Rick Severino
President St. Ambrose Athletic Association
